Wenge is a hard and stiff tonewood that is very
resonant with an almost metallic tap tone, making it a viable alternative to
Rosewood, but without the CITES regulations or the high price.
It takes lacquer well if properly prepared, as it contains natural oils and requires grain filling,
and looks beautiful when finished.
