These violins are 'in the white' ie, ready for final light sanding, sealing and varnishing. A fingerboard is supplied, loose or lightly fixed, but there are no other fittings, allowing you to customize the violin.

The method of finishing the violin is to apply 2 or 3 coats of a clear base coat, build up the colour to the desired tone with a coloured varnish, and then finish with 2 or 3 coats of clear varnish. Each coat must be allowed to dry fully before adding the next coat, and then a few days for spirit varnish or a few weeks for oil varnish allowed, before rubbing down and polishing.
